Subject: USS RENSHAW IN THE MOVIES
Glenn:
I don't recall whether I sent these pictures to you before. The Renshaw's was taken at the Sub Base in Pearl during the shooting of the movie "Big Jim McLain" in 1952. John Wayne and James Arness as Federal investigators are going to visit the hulk of the USS Arizona (no monument then). I was hanging over a port side depth charge projector, but fortunately for the viewing public am out of focus. As you will remember we would dress ship and dip our colors whenever we passed the Arizona on our way to the channel and sea.

Subject: USS RENSHAW SHIP'S BELL
Glenn:
I was exchanging e-mails with Bruce Dewald and he wasn't aware of the Renshaw's ship's bell (1942 commissioning) being adjacent to the front door of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard's museum in Portsmouth, VA. It was on October 20, 2001 that we went there when we couldn't go on NOB Norfolk right after 9/11. I've attached some photos of the bell as well as one I took from the Mk. 56 gun director of Mt. 52 in October 1951 when we were on shore bombardmento of Korea. Hope to see you at te next reunion.
