I served aboard the Uss Renshaw DDE-499 from October 1959 to June 1961.I was in the USNR and was in the quartermaster gang. There was only three of us....the chief , the third class qm, and me a seaman. On our WESPAC cruise we stood port?starboard watches. But as I look back on those times, I realize just how much I really enjoyed serving aboard this ship.And being fresh out of high school my mind wasn't on taking pictures. So, now I don't have any pictures of the ship I served on. I now ask you if there are any real good{quality} pictures of the Renshaw that I might purchase? Also, as I collect caps are there any baseball caps out there with the ships name and logo on them that I might find? Or anything else that might be of interest. I await your reply,and thanks a million in advance!

WE WERE THERE ON MAY 27, 2005, THE MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. I WAS REALLY PROUD TO SEE THE NEW PLAQUE OF THE RENSHAW. IT MADE ME FEEL PROUD THAT I HAD SERVED 3 1/2 YEARS ON BOARD THIS FINE SHIP. I REALLY LIKE THE LOCATION OF THE PLAQUE AS IT IS NEAR THE "PLAZA OF THE PRESIDENTS" AND A LOT OF VISITORS WILL SEE IT. MY WIFE JUST HAD TO TAKE SEVERAL PICTURES OF ME STANDING BESIDE IT.

Just want to pass the word that Ed Ettel passed away yesterday morning. He was diagnosed with lung cancer about 3 years ago. He was under going treatment at Fox chase, and seemed to be doing well, until about 3 weeks ago. At that time they found it had spread to his only kidney, and to his brain.
Anyway, my sister just wanted me to send word.
As of now Bill Scareon and I are hoping to make this year's reunion in Baltimore.

Sadly, I am notifying you of the death of Brenton G Thorne, who passed away recently. Brent a quartermaster, was a plank owner, and served aboard Renshaw from late 1942 to late 1944.
